About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Williamston, North Carolina, Hitch-N Post Restaurant is a cherished destination for lovers of authentic Southern comfort food served with genuine hospitality. This inviting eatery at 1981 US-17 BUS delivers a welcoming, down-home dining atmosphere where every meal feels like a warm embrace from a friend.

The cuisine at Hitch-N Post centers on classic Southern favorites crafted with care and rich, satisfying flavors. Their buffet and salad bar are standout features, brimming with a variety of freshly prepared dishes that cater to all tastes. From the moment you step in, you’re met with the enticing aroma of dishes like steak and shrimp paired with roasted vegetables, and the irresistible allure of loaded mashed potatoes piled high with creamy goodness. For those craving soul-satisfying sides, the collard greens, beets, pimento cheese, and fried okra offer a tapestry of textures and tastes that evoke true Southern tradition.

Highlights from the buffet include hearty, homemade classics such as fried chicken, buttery chicken dumplings, and the comforting pairing of BBQ pork mac & cheese. The steak and gravy over mashed potatoes is a particular favorite, delivering a rich, savory punch that delights with every bite. If dessert beckons, the peach cobbler offers the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth to round out your meal beautifully.

Beyond the buffet, guests can explore a thoughtfully curated menu that features refreshing pasta bowls, vibrant house and taco salads, and the subtly spiced “End Of Trail Salad.” For lighter fare, the “Lite In The Saddle” selections include succulent grilled chicken breast, crispy chicken tenders, fresh shrimp, and flounder — all prepared with an eye toward flavor and freshness.

Appetizers and sides at Hitch-N Post show equal care: from tangy tortilla chips with zesty salsa to crispy boneless wings and golden cheese sticks, each dish is perfectly crafted to awaken your appetite. Don’t miss the “Load Your Own Western Fries/Potato Chips” for a fun and delicious start to your meal, or the hearty cowboy chili that warms both body and soul.

What truly sets Hitch-N Post apart is not only the food but the heartfelt service and community spirit that runs through every aspect of the dining experience. Patrons like Hayden Coppley have celebrated the affordability and quality, calling the buffet “cheap and great” with service that makes you want to return daily. Billy Whitley’s praise for the fried catfish—“the best I have EVER had”—speaks volumes about the kitchen’s skill, while Sandy Edwards highlights the seamless coordination and kindness of the staff who truly go above and beyond to make every visit exceptional.

The restaurant’s ambiance strikes a perfect balance: casual and friendly yet with a level of attention that makes you feel cared for. Whether escaping a rainy day or stopping by for a hearty meal after a long drive, Hitch-N Post offers a comforting taste of Southern hospitality that feels as satisfying as a home-cooked meal. Tonia C. perfectly expresses this sentiment, remarking that it felt “almost like eating at home,” with perfect sweet tea to complement the experience.

In every bite, from the tender fried chicken to the luscious peach cobbler, Hitch-N Post Restaurant serves up a genuine, flavorful homage to Southern cuisine, supported by a welcoming staff and a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere. Fried catfish was best I have EVER had. Pork chop in gravy, flat corn bread. I can't say enough good things, Staff was excellent. Just good people. I found this place by luck driving home from OBX. I will drive back an hour and half just to eat.

The best of the best … we love every single thing about this place …. The staff are so extremely nice and they don’t hesitate to keep you drink filled , your dirty plates taken up .The food is delicious. All the staff join and pull together to make sure everything runs smoothly. The people in the kitchen do an exceptional job at cooking everything. I have not seen one thing on that buffet bar over cooked under cooked to cold or dried out . They are very attentive to their food . Very nice staff and I definitely recommend this place it’s a 10/ outta 10. That peach cobbler though is exceptional, it’s perfectly cooked every single time . Their cakes are moist and delicious.. The place is immaculately cleaned… throughout. Parking lot the entire place . They have single plates , Chicken salad etc on the menu I was told today… so there’s a lot to choose from even if you don’t want buffet . Go see them … you’ll be glad you’d did … and the prices are right too. Love this new found gem. It’s definitely worth the drive . The young Lady that works there that was our waitress today , helped me get on their fb page , helped me find the review page , her and her sister and their Momma and Daddy work there. She even since me a friend request … the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet . Great Christian family . People like that make you keep coming back.

If you want southern food and perfect sweet tea, then this is the place for you. My husband had never been there, and we were nearby, so I wanted him to try it out. I told him I'd only ever had the buffet and had never ordered off the menu before - so he checked it out & decided to go that route too. It was pouring rain outside, and it was almost like eating at home. The staff was very nice and we would definitely return if we're in the area again.

The waitress/Bartender was lovely and professional, very helpful and personable. The steak was cooked to order and the rest of the dinner was very good . Glad I made the stop . It's been a year since I was here should plan a return trip soon.
